The Club holds 10 club days between 14 September & 30 June in any financial year. We fish for 7 species - Blue cod, groper, tarakihi, kahawai, tuna, kingfish snapper and scarpie, the top three fish in each species are awarded the prize money.
If a club day is cancelled or a species not caught on the club day, the money jackpots to the next. We also award the top angler and the top junior angler each club day, with the top junior of the day taking home a miniature trophy to keep.
A decision is made by committee members at 7am as to whether conditions are suitable to fish and an announcement is made on the marine radio at 7.15am. If you provide Donna (Club Cubtain) with your mobile phone number and boat name she will text you as to whether fishing is on or off.
Members are launched free between 7.30am and 9.30am and retreived between 2pm and 3pm. All anglers must return to base by 4pm unless they have advised staff otherwise. Fish are weighed at the weight station between 3pm and 4pm.
Prizegiving is usually between 5.30pm and 6.00pm, followed by food supplied by the club.
Come and join us, we welcome you and it is a great way to meet other members and exchange your fishy tales!
